Most commonly known as “botox”, other names include neuromodulators, neurotoxins, botulinum toxin A, muscle relaxants, and our favorite: “Tox.” This wrinkle-reducing injectable is safe, effective, and reasonably affordable. No wonder it’s the most commonly performed cosmetic procedure in medical spas!
Our facial muscles create movements that result in expressions–smiling, frowning, squinting, surprise, etc. Over time, this results in the formation of permanent wrinkles and even deep furrows. Tox is used to temporarily reduce the movement of these muscles, preventing deeper lines from forming. Results typically last for 2-4 months. In younger patients, the preventative use of muscle relaxants is becoming increasingly popular. It even has a name–prejuvenation!
For common treatment areas (the 11s, forehead horizontals, and crow’s feet), we charge $10 per unit of Xeomin and $12 per equivalent unit of Daxxify ($6.00/unit). Other uses of Tox are considered advanced treatment and are charged per area rather than per unit.
Xeomin is the purest form of botulinum toxin, and DAXXIFY is the longest-acting. Other drugs contain inactive and superfluous proteins that when used over time, may stimulate your immune system to attack the drug, making it less effective.
In the production of Xeomin, these inactive proteins are removed with a patented process called XTRACT Technology™.
DAXXIFY is the latest neurotoxin on the market, and can last upwards of 6 months compared to the typical 2-4 months for other toxins!
Botox may be more well-known, but Xeomin is purer and DAXXIFY longer-acting; therefore both are better in our opinion!
